Staff Correspondent Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia offered special doa for language martyrs of 1952, though she did not visit the central Shaheed Minar to pay homage this year. She took part in the special doa at her Gulshan office in the capital on Saturday. BNP Standing Committee member Nazrul Islam Khan, Vice-Chairman Selima Rahman, Mahila Dal Secretary Sirin Sultana and the members of her staff were present at the time. Earlier, a delegation led by Chairperson's Advisor Enam Ahmed Chowdhury visited the central Shaheed Minar to pay homage to the language martyrs on behalf of the party chief. Meanwhile, members of the law enforcing agencies on Saturday blocked some retired army officers from carrying food to Khaleda Zia's political office. According to the BNP Chairperson's press wing staff, a total of 12 former army officers, led by Maj (Retd) Wahed Uddin, tried to enter the office with food. But the police deployed around the office stopped them.
