
Nazmul Hasan, convener of Nagorik Chhatra Oikya, announced the postponement of the programme at about 3pm due to "unavoidable reasons", before comencement of the rally at the National Press Club.
Mahmudur Rahman Manna and Gono Forum president Dr Kamal Hossain did not present at the rally venue.
As per the pre-announced schedule, leaders and activists of Nagorik Oikya gathered in front of the Press Club. At that time, police also took position there.
The leaders and activists went back their Topkhana office after Nazmul Hasan announced the postponement of the rally.
In his announcement, he said, "Our movement to restore democracy will be continuing despite facing obstacles."
An audio clip of leaked telephone conversations reveals that Nagarik Oikya Convener Mahmudur Rahman Manna is eager to facilitate military interventions in Bangladesh.
Nagorik Oikya is likely to brief the media on the leaked audio clip at the National Press Club at 11:00am on Tuesday.
