“I planned quite a long ago to contest Dhaka City Corporation (North) polls. BNP may not participate in the upcoming polls. Assuming that I phoned Sadek Hossain Khoka to win support of BNP. I had to talk something on the movement of BNP-led 20-party alliance in a bid to get that favour,” Manna told the DB police.
Manna was placed on a 10-day remand in a case filed with Gulshan thana for instigating armed forces to revolt. Following leak of Manna’s two audio clips in the media, plainclothes police picked him up from a Banani residence.
Manna is now facing interrogation under the DB.
“I didn’t know that the conversation through viber could be recorded,” Nagorik Oikya convener told the DB officials.
Alongside contesting DCC polls, Manna had a plan to join BNP and participate in next national election from his home district Bogra, a DB official quoted Manna as saying.
DB officials, however, said that they have not yet extract any information from Manna about his conversation with an unidentified person.
