
The arrested persons are: Advocate Shamsul Hoque, 70, of Nayapara area, and SM Yusuf Ali, 83, of Fulbaria Old Bus Stand area.
The ICT -2 issued the warrant accepting a plea filed by prosecutor Tapas Kanti Bal.
Six other accused are: Md Ashraf Hossain, 64, of Miapara area; Prof Sharif Ahmed, 71, Md Abdul Mannan, 66, and Md Abul Hashem, 65, of Kacharipara area; and Md Abdul Bari, 62, and Md Harun, 58, of Bogabaid area of the district town.
Confirming the arrests, officer in-charge of Jamalpur Sadar Police Station Mujibur Rahman Majumdar said police arrested them from their respective residences in the afternoon.
“Our operation to arrest the rest war crime accused is going on”, the OC added.
The tribunal set March 30 for submitting progress report on investigation against them.
Journalist Azizur Rahman Doll, nephew of martyr Nurul Mallik, filed a case with the International Crimes Tribunal in August, 2009 against nine Rajakars and Al-Badrs who were allegedly involved in killing, atrocities and other crimes in the district during the country's Liberation War in 1971.
