A team of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is likely to come Dhaka this week to assist the country’s law enforcing agencies in investigating the murder of the writer and blogger Avijit Roy.

Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police told journalists about the matter at his office on Tuesday afternoon.

“Prime suspect of the killing Shafiur Rahman Farabi, during primary interrogation, confessed to give death threat to Avijit. Important information could be gleaned from him if the court granted remand prayer for Farabi,” he said.

Earlier, Bangladesh government accepted the US offer to involve the FBI into the investigation process.

On February 26, Avijit Roy, was hacked to death and his wife injured in a criminal attack near the TSC at Dhaka University.
