Bogra: Five people, including a mother and her son, were killed and eight others injured as the driver of a truck lost control over the steering at Baghopara Bazar area in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning.

The deceased were identified as--Loya Mia, Shanto, 40, Afroza Akhter, 30, and her son Nurul Islam, 8, and Ahmad Ali.

Bogra Sadar Thana OC Abul Basher said, the driver of a iron rod-laden truck lost control over the steering and rammed into a rickshaw and ploughed through a road side fruit shop on the Bogra-Rangpur highway around 10:30am, leaving five dead on the spot and eight others injured.

The injured were rushed to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital.
