The first-ever century for Bangladesh in the World Cup cricket on Monday by Mahmudullah Riyad put his name in the record book.
He is the first Bangladeshi batsman to score a World Cup century in the crucial Pool- A match against England at the Adelaide Oval.
Mahmudullah, who was  playing his 114th one-day international, also hit his maiden ODI hundred. In the 43.3 over he took a single off Broad and made the history.
With the ton he also put an end to the wait for 16 years since the first World Cup in 1999.
Before becoming a run-out victim in the 45.4 over, he scored 103 off 138 with seven fours and two spectacular sixes. Mahmudullah also made another record adding 141 runs for the fifth wicket with his brother-in-law Mushfiqur Rahim (89) which is the highest partnership against England.
Mahmudullah surpassed the previous highest individual score of 95 for Bangladesh at the World Cup set by Tamim Iqbal against Scotland in Nelson last week.
Mahmudullah dedicated it to his son and wife saying, "I am feeling very good, but I would have been very happy to score a few more. It was a very special innings for me .The innings I dedicate to my wife and son."
Riding on his ton Bangladesh post a fighting total of 275 for seven and confirmed the quarter final for the first time beating the British by 15 runs. Mahmudullah was adjudged the Man of the Match for his precious contribution to the historic win.
While receiving the award he said, "I am really impressed by the attitude of our boys. All the boys chipped in and everything went well. I was just trying to bat properly and did not think too much. Soumya batted really well, along with Mushy, who was the aggressor towards the end. We thought we were about 15-20 runs short initially, but we thought that if we got early wickets, then we were in with a chance. For us this victory is really special, and thank to all of the fans for supporting us. Tamim is one of the best fielders in our team, so a catch can be dropped in the match. The way Rubel bowled those last two balls, was just something really special."
