Google Developer Group (GDG) Bangla contributors will enrich Google translation with 1 million new Bangla words by April 2015.
Google Country Enginee-ring Consultant Khan Moham-mad Anwarus Salam talked about the timeline on Wednesday at the Bangla-translate-a-thon programme at Daffodil International Univ-ersity (DIU) in the capital. GDG Bangla is a developer community of Google in Bangladesh is working for enrich Bangla translation in Google.
GDG Bangla organised the programme aiming to enrich Bangla in Google translation with 2 lakh word by April. The contributors have reached the target by March 10 with 3, 24,974 new Bangla word only from DIU.
Earlier, students of linguistic department of Dhaka University contributed some 65,000 words in Google translation in February. GDG Bangla Manager Jabed Sultan Pias shared the land-marking achievement of GDG Bangla contributors in his presentation.
Bangladesh Open Source Network (BDoSN) Secretary General Munir Hasan said, "Hope, GDG Bangla contributors will deposit 4 lakh new words at a single day of March 26 to break the world record of Sri Lanka,"
DIU Emirates Professor Aminul Islam,Daffodil Group Chairman Md Sabur Khan, Esho CEO Didarul Alam and Hifi-Public CTO Shafkat Alam spoke at the meeting among others.
Some 1,023 students contributed some 3 lakh and 24,974 new words in Google translation. Top ten contributors are awarded later.
