BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday expressed profound shock at the death of Shamim Ahmed Chowdhury, the president of Moulvibazar's Kamalganj upazila unit BNP. Shamim Ahmed, also an ex-chairman of Kamalganj upazila, died on Friday at a hospital in the capital while undergoing treatment. In a condolence message, Khaleda said, "Shamim Ahmed had played a vital role in consolidating BNP in Kamalganj upazila and intensifying people's movement against the undemocratic forces for resorting democratic and basic rights." The local BNP has lost a very competent and active organiser who was devoted to implementing the ideals of BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, she added. Khaleda prayed for salvation of the departed soul and conveyed her deep sympathy to the bereaved family members. ?UNB
