Sahasra Nagorik Committee, a pro-Awami League citizens' platform on Thursday demanded the Election Commission take legal action against BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia for 'violation of election code of conduct'.
A delegation of the platform, led by its member secretary Golam Kuddus at a meeting with Chief Election Commissioner Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmed at the latter's office in the EC secretariat placed the demand lodging complaints of violation of polls code against Khaleda Zia.
"We've requested the CEC to take necessary legal actions against BNP chairperson Khaleda for her activities that go against the polls code of conduct," Golam Kuddus told reporters coming out from the nearly one-hour meeting.
He alleged that Khaleda Zia delivers vengeful speech, holds rally blockading the roads and conducts election campaign hampering traffic movement, which are "completely in violation" of election code and laws.
Journalist leader Monjurul Ahsan Bulbul and Awami League MP Mrinal Kanti Das were among other members of the delegation.
