The BNP-led 20-part alliance is going to announce programmes in protest against what it said rigging and fraudulence in just held farcical city corporation elections.
“The alliance will soon come down to the streets with the programmes after meeting of senior leaders,” said BNP Standing Committee member ASM Hannan Shah after paying tribute to BNP founder former President Ziaur Rahman on Saturday.
Hannan Shah alongwith Shramik Dal leaders placed floral wrath at the grave of Ziaur Rahman marking 36th founding anniversary of Shramik Dal.
Terming the election in three city corporations a farcical one, he also demanded fresh polls cancelling the previous results.
“ BNP did not express its prompt reaction after election results as it is democratic minded and a party of peace. We don’t believe in violence. We’ll always stay in the path of democracy, won’t get into a trap despite the government instigation,” Shah added.
He alleged that April 28 city election is an election like January 5 one, people from home and abroad watched the election on media. “No
credible election can be possible under the present government.”
