FBCCI poll candidate employs public bank staff in campaign

Barrister Jakir Ahmed, Director of Rupali Bank Ltd, a candidate for the post of director in the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) election has allegedly used the public bank as his election campaign office in the city.
Barrister Jakir is an aspirant for the post of a director under the banner of Baboshayee Oikya Parishad. The FBCCI biennial election is scheduled to be held on May 23. The officials of the Rupali Bank formed two election campaign committees to drum up support for their director candidate Barrister Jakir Ahmed.  
A 24-member advisory committee was formed with bank officials Mohammad Ali as Convener and Manoranjan Das as member secretary. The advisory committee  members  are deputy general managers, Khaled Hossain Mallik, Chowdhury Md Nazrul Islam, Mamunur Rashid, Arun Kanti Paul, AKM Shamsuddin, Md Shawkat Ali Khan, Abul Khair, Abu Jafar M Oliullah, Abul Khair Majumder, Syed Abul Mansur, Md Jahangir Alam, Sultana Nasira, Moin Uddin, Syed Abul Hossain, Wahidul Islam, Md Siraj Uddin, Abul Basar Majumder, Abul Basar, Md Abdur Rahim, Sanchi Binta Ali, Habiba Aktar Jahan, Jazia Sultana, Mohammad Ali and Khan Iqbal Hossain. While the 35-member election campaign committee headed by the Convener, Mohammad Ali,  in Mirpur area and Member Secretary Manoranjan Das in Hatkhola area.
Assistant general managers Khariul Hossain Raju campaigned in Jatrabari, Abu Nasir Md Masud in Mogbazar, Md Mahabub Rahman in Mirpur in favour of their candidate Barrister Jakir Ahmed.
Senior principal officers Kazi Md Golam Mostofa canvassed in  Khilgoan, Md Jahirul Islam in Jatababari, Abu Nasir Md Sirajul Haq in Mirpur, Md Safiqul Islam in Azimpur, Millat Hossain in Rampura and Md Mobarraf Hossian in Motijheel.
Principal officers Ali Ahmad campaigned in Mogbazar, Md Safiuddin Bhuyan in Mugda, AKM Faqrul Islam in Azimpur, Humayun Kabir Moghbazar, Golam Sarwar in Mirpur, Md Monirul Islam in Khilgoan, Mohammad Mostafuzur Rahman in Paribagh, Riyazul Islam in Mohammadpur, Farid Ahmad Jewel in Dhanmondi, Parash Chandra Mondol in Tikatoli, Imranul Alam in Mouchak Market, Allama Iqbal Rana in Katalbagan, Shawkat Hossain Sazal in Motijheel, Kandakar Shamsul Haq Ivan in Mirpur, ASM N Morsad in Farmgate, Md Rasidul Alam in Dhanmondi and  Md Sazzad Hossain in Shamoly.
Senior officers, Ahsraful Alam campaigned in Dhanmondi, Ashraful Alam in Mirpur, Ali Sazzad in Mirpur, Motiur Rahman in Mirpur, Asiqur Rahman in Azimpur, Sohel Ahmed in Mirpur, Md Shayam Sarkar in Basabo and Md Samsuddin in Gabtali.
Manoranjan Das told the Daily Observer on Friday over phone that the advisory committee and the election campaign committee are the internal committees of the bank.
DGM AKM Shamsuddin told this correspondent that they are working for the bank director Barrister Jakir Ahmed at leisure time and not during office hours.
DGM Md Jahangir Alam said that he was unaware of the advisory committee for Barrister Jakir Ahmed.
Barrister Jakir Ahmed said that the bank officials have formed two election campaign committees on their own initiative. They might be working for their candidate during leisure time.
