CHITTAGONG, May 27: Law-enforcers here arrested a youth in connection with the recent murder of a woman and her daughter in the port city's Nalaparha area. The arrested youth, Belal Hossain, 19, son of Mona Mia, hails from Kurbanpur village of Muradnagar upazila under Comilla district and a relative of Shah Alam, the husband of victim Nasima Begum. Nasima, 28, and her daughter Ria Akhter, 8, were found dead on May 7. Their bodies were recovered from the fifth floor of their rented house in South Nalaparha area. Chittagong Metropolitan Police disclosed the information at a press briefing at its office on Wednesday. Deputy Commissioner of Detective Branch (DB) police Kushum Dewan and Additional Deputy Commissioner SM Tanvir Arafat addressed the press briefing. Detained Belal Hossain told the journalists that he killed Nasima and her daughter Ria to collect money for his planned marriage ceremony. Police also recovered two mobile phone sets, gold and the television set which were taken from the residence of the victims. Earlier, Mohammad Rocky, 22, house tutor of Shah Alam's children, were detained by the police for interrogation. He was, however, released afterwards.
