GAZIPUR, May 31: A fire broke out at a readymade garments (RMG) factory at Sripur upazilla of Gazipur district on Sunday. Fire service and civil defence department later extinguished the fire that caused huge damage, owner of the factory said. Deputy Assistant Director of Gazipur Fire Service Aktaruzzaman Riton said an RMG factory named 'Dignity' caught fire around 2:15pm. About 10 fire-fighting units from Gazipur, Mymensingh, Bhaluka and Sripur joined the mission and put out the flames around 4:30pm. The fire originated from the warehouse situated on the factory's second floor. But the cause of the fire and extent of damage could not be known immediately, the official said.
