7 burnt in Comilla petrol bomb attack

Comilla : Seven bus passengers received burn injuries in a petrol bomb attack on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in Chandina upazila at the wee hours on Wednesday.

The victims were identified as Anjan Kumar Devnath, 40, adviser of Bishwa Sahitya Kendra,  Ranjit Sharma, 35, Suman Chandra Saha, 30, Lovely Akhter, Johirul Islam, 25, Khokan Chakma, 33, and Imran, 25.

Rasul Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Chandina Police Station, said some unidentified miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the Rangamati-bound bus of ‘Unique Paribahan’ in front of the Chandina Jute Research Institute adjacent to Chandina upazila sadar around 12 midnight,  leaving seven people injured on the spot.

The injured were at first taken to a local hospital from where they were later shifted to the burn unit of Comilla Medical College Hospital while Suman and Khohan were rushed to Dhaka Medical Hospital (DMCH) as their conditions were critical.
