Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury on Monday said if there is no democracy in the country how BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia could meet Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his Dhaka visit.
"You (Khaleda) said there's no democracy in the country. Then how did you meet the visiting Indian Prime Minister. No one prevented you from meeting Modi," she said.
Matia, also an Awami League presidium member, said this while addressing a discussion marking the historic June 7 organised by Awami League Dhaka City unit at Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
The Agriculture Minister said, "You (Khaleda) had rather cancelled your meeting with Indian President Pranab Muikherjee when he had been in Dhaka seeking his appointment. But you met Modi and took photograph with him."
In a meeting with Indian Premier Modi on Sunday, Khaleda said democracy is absent in Bangladesh and there is no rule of law. City unit AL?s acting President MA Aziz was in the chair.    ?UNB
