A new journalists' platform 'Indo-Bangla Sangbadik Maitry Parishad (Indo-Bangla Journalist Friendship Council - IBJFC)' comprising the Bengali-speaking journalists from both Bangladesh and India started its formal journey on June 7.
The organisation was formed at a meeting of the journalists from both the countries held at a city hotel on Sunday. The meeting also decided to form a 16-member convening committee which will form a full-fledged executive committee within 90 days of its journey.
Rajarshee Das of Kolkata's Nagar Darpan and Ahmed Siraj of Dhaka's ANB24.com, a news portal, were made its Convener and Member Secretary respectively. Other members of the committee were Salimullah Selim of BSS, Moloy Saha of New Age, Isharaf Hossain Isa of Daily Sun, Mohosinul Karim of The Daily Observer, Tareq Salman of Thereport24, Sumon Mostafa of Bhorer Kagoj and Tarun Kumar Saha of Radio Sundarban from Bangladesh side and Bish Majumder of ETV News, Anirban Chowdhury of 24ghanta, Manjit Sarker of ABP Ananda, Subrata Acharjee of Nagar Darpan, Tutu Sarker of Sreeshtir Ekush Shatak, Pabitra Das of Telegraph and Subir Haldar of India Today from Indian side.
