A person, who sustained burn injuries in an arson attack on a bus in Chandina upazila of Comilla, has succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).

Residential surgeon of DMCH Burn Unit Partha Shankar Paul said that the arson victim Ranjit Sharma, 59, died around 3:30 am Friday at the burn unit of the hospital.

Ranjit along with six others received burn injuries when miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the bus on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway on the night of holy Shab-e-Barat.

The body was sent to Comilla after autopsy, the DMCH source said.

According to sources, unruly BNP-Jamaat cadres carried out the attack on the bus.

They also attacked and burnt a large number of motor vehicles on highways during the recent three-month countrywide hartal and blockade enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, the sources added.
