Arrest warrant issued against 28 BNP leaders

A Dhaka court on Wednesday issued arrest warrant against 28 BNP leaders and activists, including its standing committee member Barrister Rafiqul Islam Miah, in a case filed in Mirpur Police Station under Special Power Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Kamrul Hossain Molla passed the order as the court accepted the charge sheet.
The warrant issued against the prominent BNP leaders are Joint Secretary General Aman Ullah Aman, Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan, and Special Assistant to the BNP Chairperson Shimul Biswas, City Member Secretary Habibun Nabi Khan Sohel, former JCD President Azizul Bari Helal, Sultan Salauddin Tuku, Jubo Dal Secretary Saiful Islam Nirob.
Of the total 32 accused Ruhul Kabir Rizvi is in jail while advocate Syeda Asifa Ashrafi Papia, Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain and Nasir Hossain are on bail in this case. ASI Shawpan Kumar Mondal of Mirpur police station filed the case on January 30 this year alleging that BNP activists torched a vehicle at the intersection of Kallayanpur in the Mirpur area of the capital on January 3.
