Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam on Thursday urged BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to stop spreading lies while fasting.
"Stop spreading lies while fasting. Come to the path of peace and prohibiting arson attacks in the name of movement," the Minister without portfolio called upon to the BNP Chief.
Ashraf made the call to the BNP Chief while addressing an iftar arranged by Jubo League at Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital. Ashraf has showed up at a Juba League programme just hours after being removed as LGRD minister. He was made minister without portfolio after being relieved from the LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry on Thursday afternoon.
When the crowded reporters asked him about his removal from the ministry, Ashraf smiled and refrained from making any comment over his removal from the LGRD and Cooperatives.
Terming that democracy absent in the BNP, Ashraf said, "State power will be grabbed by the evil forces if the democratic process is disrupted." Asking the BNP chief to shun the path of deceptive politics, Ashraf urged Khaleda to ensure that no one is killed in political violence anymore in Bangladesh. He also hailed Jubo League, the youth wing of the ruling Awami League, for its organisational capacity. "We hear many things (bad news) involving Chhatra League and Awami League as well. But we hardly hear anything negative about Jubo League. It shows the good image and reputation of the organisation."
Jubo League Chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury presided the programme and its General Secretary Harun-ur-Rashid also addressed, among others.
