Sirajganj: At least five people, including a child, have been killed after a passenger bus veered into a roadside ditch in Sirajganj, police say.

Friday afternoon’s mishap at Kamarkhand Upazila left at least 20 others injured.

The Gaibandha-bound bus from Dhaka lost control and plunged into a ditch beside the Bangabandhu bridge’s Paschimparh connecting highway, local police OC Helaluddin said.

Four people were killed on the spot while a fifth died on way to hospital.

He has been identified as ‘Nirob’, 6, of Gobindganj, who was travelling with his father Md Jewel.

The injured were rushed to Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.

OC Helaluddin said they were trying to pull out the half-submerged bus.
