Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith said here today that Kamrul Islam, the killer of child Rajon who fled to Saudi Arabia following the murder, would be brought back home after Eid-ul-Fitr.
"Assistance was provided to Kamrul to flee from Bangladesh. None but expatriates in Saudi Arabia caught him. They deserve thanks for their role," he said.
Muhith said this while consoling the bereaved parents of slain child Sheikh Samiul Alam Rajon at their Kandigaon Badeali village under Sadar upazila in the district.
At that time, the minister said, a fund (FDR) would be created depositing Taka five lakh initially for educational purposes of Rajon's only brother and for trouble-free life of his family.
Speaking at a public rally coming out of Rajon's house there, Muhith said, "The killers of Rajon were beasts. The punishment of his killers would be ensured within the shortest possible time. Those who were involved in his murder and those who helped Kamrul flee the country would not be spared.
"They will have to face justice. I came to know that some policemen refused to register a case when Rajon's father turned up at the police station to file a homicide case. Rather they misbehaved with him. Proper punishment would be handed down to those involved policemen after investigation."
Awami League organizing secretary Advocate Misbah Uddin Siraj, Sadar Upazila chairman Ashfaque Ahmed and on behalf of locals Shayesta Talukdar spoke at the rally, among others.
