Incessant showers from Monday brought life to halt in the metro. Trains in the CR section were running at least 20-40 minutes late, while the delay in WR is about 10-20 minutes.
WR train services have been severely affected beyond Virar due to water logging at Palghar and Boisar stations, since early morning, said the Government Railway Police Control room.
Though no railway spokesperson was not available for comment, a source said that train services came to halt at Palghar from 4.55am and several trains, including the Gujarat Express, were stuck at various stations.
According to the control room there was water on tracks in the CR track also at Kalyan and some places beyond it, which has affected running on suburban services.
The fresh showers brought back the memory of recent a torrential rain submerging large parts of the India’s financial capital Mumbai, brought train services to a grinding halt and killed at least three people.
