Police have arrested a person and recovered 76,000 Yaba pills from a room used by Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited in Old Dhaka’s Wari.
Deputy Police Commissioner of Wari Division, Syed Nurul Islam, told bdnews24.com, “The siezure was made from the room of the building that houses the sub post office on Rankin Street around 8:30am on Tuesday.”
He added the post office is on the first floor and the postmaster lives in the ground floor. BTCL uses one of the rooms on the ground floor to store equipment.
“The yaba pills were found in a big bag in the room. A person named AB Siddique, who transports the Yaba, was nabbed from the spot.”
Islam added they were looking for a BTCL employee suspected to be linked with the Yaba trade, but refused to give out his identity.
The methamphetamine tablets are popular with addicts looking for a quick fix due to its cheap price and easy availability.
