Heavy rain caused by cyclone Komen also consumed the fourth day of the second and final Test between Bangladesh and South Africa without a ball being bowled at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Sunday.
It was the successive third day of the Test that was washed out as the second and third day was also abandoned due to heavy shower.
There was a possibility to start the match on day four as rain stopped at around 9:45am. The groundsmen were working hard to prepare the field for play. The umpires Paul Reiffel and Richard Kettleborough inspected the field at 11:00am and scheduled the time of final inspection at 1:00pm.
Bangladesh team came to the field and also played football to warm up. But all their preparations went in vain as it was bucketing off just after South Africa team arrived at the field at around 12:00pm. And considering the situation of rain match officials called off the day's play.
Bangladesh ended the day one with 246 for 8 and Nasir Hossain was not out with 13.
However, the sun shone later on the day and the players may be longing for a bright sunny day on the final day today (Monday) to play at least one innings each in this Test.
Earlier, the last two days of the first Test in Chittagong was abandoned because of rain and the Test was called a draw.
