'Social media changing the society'

Dr Wayne Wanta, Professor of the Department of Journalism of University of Florida, USA, on Tuesday said internet and social media were contributing to change the society and men's life along with newspapers and electronic media at the global age.
He made this remarks at the 53rd anniversary of Mass Communication and Journalism (MCJ) Department of Dhaka University as a keynote speaker at RC Majumder Auditorium hosted by the department.
"Facebook and twitter have contributed most in changing society and run our daily life" Watna said in his keynote lecture titled 'The Changing Effects of the News Media.'
The professor addressed on various media and public agenda along with the rules and regulations of printing, electronic and social media.
In his speech as the chief guest, DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefine Siddique said,
"The world is a global village. So, we should improve our journalism to the global standard." 
MCJ Chairperson Prof Mafizur Rahman chaired the anniversary programme where former chairperson of the department, Prof Akhter Sultana, Prof Gulam Rahman and Daffodil University VC were present among others.
