The continuous downpour makes the house damp and sometimes dirty, leaving one to spend a considerable time to clean the house. But with proper care of furniture and ensuring cross ventilation, it's easy to keep home dry and free of excessive moisture.
Curtain can be wet as a result of persistent drizzle and if it is wet for a long time, home will get damp. So polyester or cotton is the perfect material for curtains which have tendency of drying up faster.
After rainfall open the window because fresh air and sun rays are important to prevent the house from humidity. In this damp weather sweating on the floor is another problem. In this case one has to wipe the floor with dry cloth and this time fans should be turned off.
Drying wet clothes often takes much time. Wet clothes increase humidity in the air inside the house. So fungus, moulds and other infectious organisms can attack. Cloth hanger is useful to dry clothes when sun comes out and you have to make sure that you will open all windows and doors.
It's better to keep furniture away from windows, balcony doors and other damp spaces. One should clean furniture with a dry and soft cloth and avoid damp clothes on furniture. Cleaning and polishing should be done regularly. Wardrobes and bed should be kept a few inches away from the walls.
Keeping a few naphthalene balls in wardrobe, drawers or bookshelves is a good way to protect those from moisture. Neem leaves in wardrobe are effective against bugs during the rainy season.
The rise of wetness level not only affects rooms and furniture, but also the kitchen. To keep kitchen dry, keep on cross-ventilation. You should open the windows when it is possible. One must clean the floor with germ destroying soap every day. The cooker and kitchenware must be cleaned.
You have to ensure a proper drainage system. The lack of a proper drainage system can cause dampness in walls and it's very important to replace damaged electrical cords immediately. Otherwise your life could be at stake.
