India take on Sri Lanka today

Defending champions India National Under-16 Football Team will take on Sri Lanka of Group-A in the opening match of the SAFF Under-16 Championship today (Sunday) at 5:00 pm at the Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith will inaugurate the six-nation SAFF Under-16 Championship as the chief guest.
Bangladesh Television (BTV) will telecast the opening match and all the other matches live from the Sylhet Venue.     
In the last SAFF Under-16 event in 2013, India defeated Sri Lanka by 4-1 goals in the group stage match at the Army Ground, Kathmandu in Nepal.
Yet it's a junior teams, their national teams' position on the FIFA world ranking may help the fans compare them. India are on the 156th place while Sri Lanka are ranked 183rd on the FIFA rankings.
India boys had a light practice on Saturday afternoon at the Sylhet District Stadium while the Lankans practiced in the morning at the BFF Football Academy in Sylhet.
Sri Lanka head coach Mohammed Roomy said, "We have taken a month of preparation for the event. India is a better team but we will try to show something different on the field. It's a tough matter for us as we'll have to face India and the host Bangladesh in the group stage. But our aim is to play in the semi-final."
The coach revealed that they might play in the 4-4-2 format and would follow attacking strategies.
Sri Lanka captain Mohammed Afran said that they were hopeful to play the semi-final as they had good team spirit and everyone in the team was ready to give their best.
On the other hand, India asst. coach Bibiaono Fernandes said that he got a good team and they were expecting to retain the title.
"Although we are the defending champions, that is past and now we are looking forward to play well in here with a new team. The very team is good and they got talents. I am optimist about them." said, Bibiaono.
The asst. coach marked the Sri Lanka side as a strong opponent.
A press meet was held ahead of the six-nation football event in Sylhet on Saturday.
Afghanistan head coach Mohammad Isa Zahid and captain Omid Haider Saunch, Bangladesh head coach Syed Golam Zhilani and captain Shawon Hossen, Sri Lanka head coach Mohammed Roomy and captain Mohammed Afran, Nepal head coach Upendra Man Singh and captain Manicn Karci, India asst. coach Bibiaono Fernandes and the Maldives head coach Mohammed Shahid and team manager Hussain Jawaz were present at the press meet.
In the following match on Monday, Nepal will face the Maldives of the Group-B at 5:00 pm at the same venue.
