Rangamati: The bodies of the five suspected members of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS-MN Larma), who were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of Bangladesh Army, were handed over to their family members on Sunday.
Officer-in-charge of Baghaichhari Police Station Zakir Hossain Fakir said the bodies were handed over to their family members at Sadar hospital in the afternoon on completion of autopsy.
The deceased are Rupayon Chakma, Kanti Chakma alias Rubel, Babul Chandra Chakma, Jackson Tripur alias Khokon, and Tatumony Tripura hailing from different villages of Baghaichhari, Dighinala, Naniarchar and Guimara upazilas.
Meanwhile, the bullet-hit army member, Liakat Ali Kollol, was shifted to the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka from Chittagong on Sunday.
On Saturday, five suspected members of PCJSS (MN Larma) were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with the members of Bangladesh Army at Boradam village in Baghaichhari upazila.
The incident took place when an Army team, led by Baghaihat zone captain Lt Col Ali Haider, conducted an operation in the house of Ganbir Chakma at the village around 5am as a gang of 15-20 PCJSS men took position there.
Seven firearms, including one pistol, one SMG, two rifles, three SLRs, and 500 bullets were also found in the spot.
