Bangladesh have won the SAFF Under-16 Championship for the first time by beating champions India in tiebreaker.
The hosts beat their neighbours 4-2 in penalty shootout after the sides remained deadlocked 1-1 in 90 minutes at the Sylhet District Stadium on Tuesday, reports bdnews24.com.
After playing out a goalless first half, Bangladesh took the lead in the first minute after the break.
Midfielder Mohammad Shawon's cross into the box found Fahim Morshed who fired it into the back of the net. Avinash Morajkar's long-range shot helped India equalise in the 63rd minute.
Bangladesh kept pressing high up the pitch as the game headed towards the shootout.
