A suspected dacoit was killed during a 'gunfight' with the members of law enforcers at Muslim Nagar area in Keraniganj in the capital on Sunday midnight.

The dead was identified as--Md Yusuf, 35.

Police detained two persons from the spot.

Dakkhin Keraniganj Thana OC Monirul Islam said, police chased a group of robbers when they came at the area around 1:45am to commit robbery.

Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, robber gang opened fire to the police, forcing them to fire back that triggered a gunfight.

Yusuf was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, OC said.
