
“A group of activists belong to a certain political party physically assaulted some teachers of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology. It is difficult to condemning the incident in words,” said the former president in a statement on Monday.
Mentioning Dr Zafar Iqbal’s comment that he should hang himself, Professor B Chowdhury said, “It is not Dr Zafar Iqbal who should hang himself, rather those political leaders should hang themselves who let loose the students of their party towards their respected teachers to assault physically.”
He demanded formation of a probe-body consisting of one or more former High Court justice for proper investigation into the incident.
The Bikalpadhara Bangladesh president also urged the government to take stern action against the perpetrators.
Seven teachers of SUST were assaulted by leaders and activists of the university unit of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student affiliate body of the ruling Awami League, in front of the vice chancellor’s office on Sunday.
