Cox’s Bazar :  A man was shot dead and five others were injured during a clash between two rival groups over grabbing a shrimp enclosure at Hoanak Hetaliaghona in Moheshkhali upazila on Monday morning.

The dead was identified as Mozammel Haque Kalamia, employee of the shrimp enclosure.

The injured were admitted to the local health complex. Witnesses said supporters of one Mostafa Kamal gang and Ferdous gang, two listed terrorists in the area, stormed the shrimp hatchery at early hours and tried to establish their supremacy. They also vandalized and looted it.

At one stage both groups exchanged gunshots, leaving Kala Mia critically injured. He died on way to hospital.

Moheshkhali thana OC Shaykhul Ahmed confirmed the incident.
