Bus-truck collision kills 5, injures 30 in Sirajganj

Sirajganj : Five people were killed and 30 others injured in a triangular collision between two buses and a truck at Khalkula in Tarash upazila on Tuesday night.

Two of the deceased were identified as Badsha, 38, of Shahjadpur upazila and Atab Ali, 35, of Ullapara upazila.

Hatikumrul Highway thana OC Abdul Quader Jilani said a Rajshahi-bound bus of Desh Travels and another of Bhai-Bondhu Paribahan collided head-on at about 10:30pm. At that time, a truck hit the Desh Paribahan bus from behind as its driver lost his control over steering, leaving four passengers dead on the spot and another at Sirajganj Sadar Hospital.  

On information, members of RAB, police and Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the scene and conducted rescue operation.

Meanwhile, Sirajganj DC M Billal Hossain, Civil Surgeon Dr Debapad Roy, Additional Superintendent of Police Ziaul Hasan Talukder and the Sadar UNO visited the hospital.

The DC announced to donate Tk 10,000 for each family of the dead and Tk 5,000 for each injured person.

Of the injured, drivers of two buses were admitted to Bogra Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in a critical condition.
