BRAC university authority has announced that it will return the value added tax which was earlier collected from the students.

Registrar of the university Md Sohul Afzal appeared before the agitated students and made the announcement.

"As per the decision of NBR, the university authorities have to pay the vat, not the students," he said.

When students asked about the vat already collected from the students, Sohul said it would be returned to the students.

Against the government's decision to impose 7.5 vat on tuition fees, students have been demonstrating at various points in the capital on the second consecutive day on Sunday, which cause huge traffic congestion.
