The Detective Branch (DB) of Police on Sunday submitted charge sheet against BNP Senior Vice Chairman Tarique Rahman in connection with a case filed against him for making derogatory remarks against Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Jewel Rana, Assistant Commissioner of the Detective Branch-Motijheel Zone of Dhaka Metropolitan Police submitted the charge sheet to the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Asaduzzaman Nur.

Rana in his report mentioned that they have found truth in  his  investigation that Tareque made the comment with a view to  spreading propaganda against the state.

The court will decide on November 7 whether the charges will be accepted or not.

On October 19 last year, Advocate Moshiur Rahman Malek, President of Bangabandhu Foundation, filed the lawsuit with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate.

In his statement, Moshiur alleged that Tarique had termed Bangabandhu as 'Pakbandhu' at a meeting in London.
