The Appellate Division has published the full trial verdicts that sentenced BNP leader Salauddin Quader Chowdhury and Jamaat-e-Islami leader Ali Ahsan Md Mujahid to death, clearing the way for starting the process of execution.
Both of them had been sentenced to death by the International Crimes Tribunal after they were found guilty of crimes against humanity during the 1971 Liberation War.
The Supreme Court later upheld the sentences.
“The full verdicts have been published. We will try to send it to the war crimes tribunal today, it will be also posted on the Supreme Court’s website,” the court’s Registrar General Syed Aminul Islam told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.
The two, however, have a chance to file a review petition within 15 days from the full verdict’s publication.
