Digitalization now-a-days has become a must for all countries. Though it is proven that more than half of the people of the world have no access to Internet, Bangladesh is getting digitalized day by day at a satisfactory pace. Till today, so many examples have been placed before the people of Bangladesh which really represent the country's potential to be a 'digital country' in many spheres of life. One of those examples can be the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) Award which has been formally handed over to Bangladesh on 26 September at the UN headquarters in New York. This award has been given for using ICT in improving people's lives in different times. PM Sheikh Hasina has dedicated this award to all the young people in our country who has the potential to improve the service in a better way in future.
In 2010, about 4.5 thousands of digital centres were introduced in Bangladesh. They were previously known as Union Information and Service Centres. These played tremendous role in establishing the 'digitalization' concept in people's mind. At present, about 39 lakh and 20 thousand are getting services from these centres each and every month (Source: UISC Census-2013). It can be hoped that soon each and every person will be able to use and get the advantage of ICT and help the country go for further development.
