Terming the killings of two foreign nationals a planned act, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given directives to the law enforcing agencies to bring the culprits to book soon.
She gave the directives at the outside lounge of Sylhet Osmani International Airport during a one-hour stopover there before flying for Dhaka on Saturday.
PM Sheikh Hasina returned home after attending the 70th Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.
“Foreign nationals have been killed in a planned way to destabilize the country at a time when the country’s image has been brightened internationally,” said the PM.
Former Sylhet Mayor and Sylhet city Awami League president Badruddin Ahmed Kamran told media about the Premier’s directives after the killings of two foreign nationals in the country.
He also said that Sheikh Hasina has called upon the country people to remain alert about this kind of elements.
Around 11am, Japanese national Hosi Koniyo was shot dead in the northern district of Rangpur within six days of the murder of Italian aid worker Cesare Tavella in Dhaka.
