An organised gang of eight alleged frauds were arrested in the capital with 1,230 passports and 2350 fake visas for 18 countries, 431 counterfeit medical certificates and huge forged documents and evidence used for cheating innocent overseas jobseekers.
RAB-3 personnel arrested those frauds in an overnight drive from Sunday evening to early hours of Monday at different places in the capital.
Officials at the Rapid Action Battalion HQs said the gang members had been carrying out such fraudulent acts and pocketing crores of taka causing sufferings and harassment to overseas jobseekers.
The detained alleged members of the fraud gang were identified as Jahangir Alam Babu, 45, Abul Hossain, 81, and Nur Islam, 30, of Chandanaish in Chittagong, Rezaul Karim, 31, and Taiyab Ali, 48, of Munshiganj, Billal Hossain, 36, and Abul Hossain, 36, of Noakhali district and Matin Miah, 47, of Nesarabad in Sylhet.
