Bangladesh Bank (BB) Governor Dr Atiur Rahman has become 'Central Bank Governor of the Year, Asia 2015' for his contribution to the country's financial inclusion.

Emerging Markets, a part of Euromoney Institutional Investor plc, one of the largest and most respected providers of financial information worldwide, announced it in Lima, Peru Friday, AFM Asaduzzaman, General Manager of BB's Governor Secretariat, told BSS by telephone.

Atiur Rahman is now in Lima to attend the Annual Meetings-2015 of World Bank-IMF.

Financial inclusion campaign, initiated by Bangladesh Bank to bolster inclusive growth model of the government, has been very successful in recent years in offering basic financial services to broader mass of population, particularly the disadvantaged, unserved and underserved with the aid of rapidly expanding information and communications technology (ICT).
