Jagannath University (JnU) on Tuesday observed its 10th founding anniversary with great enthusiasm and festivity.
To mark the day, the university authorities organised different programmes including hoisting of national and university flags, colourful procession, discussion, cultural events, traditional jatra pala and concert.
Different buildings along with the academic one of the university were decorated with colourful lights.
JnU Vice-Chancellor (VC) Prof Dr Mijanur Rahman inaugurated the day-long programmes around 9:30am through hoisting of the national and university flags along with releasing pigeons and balloons.
Later, a colourful rally was also brought out starting from the university's Shaheed Minar premises that paraded the main roads of the old part of Dhaka city including Ray Shaheb Bazar, Victoria Park and Bangla Bazar.
Deans of different faculties, heads of the departments, teachers, students, officials and staff of the university took part in the rally.
A discussion was held at 11:00am at the university's Science Building marking the day.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid spoke as Chief Guest on the occasion while University Grants Commission Chairman Prof Abdul Mannan attended, among others, as Special Guest.
A cultural session was also held at 2:00pm and the day-long celebration ended with a rocking concert on the campus where prominent singers Hridoy Khan and Rajib performed in the evening.
