Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday formed a three-member probe committee to investigate bomb blasts at a gathering of Shia Muslim community’s headquarters in the old part of Dhaka that left one person killed.

DMP additional commissioner Sheikh Maruf Hassan will lead the probe body, DMP deputy commissioner (media) Muntashirul Islam told UNB on Saturday.

The two other probe team members are DMP joint commissioner (Ops) Mir Rejaul Alam and DMP deputy commissioner (DB-South) Mashrukur Rahman.

The committee has been asked to submit its report within seven working days, the DC (Media) added.

A teenage boy was killed and around 100 people were injured in the bomb blasts at Huseni Dalan in Old Dhaka early Saturday. Three homemade bombs went off around 1:45 am when Shia community people gathered there for bringing out a Tajia procession marking holy Ashura.

Meanwhile, police arrested four people suspecting their involvement in connection with the bomb explosions.

They are now being grilled now under the custody of Detective Branch (DB) of police.
