Pepsi-DRU Media Cricket begins Sunday

The Pepsi-DRU Media Cricket Tournament, organised by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), began on Sunday at Moulana
Bhasani National Hockey Stadium.

Law Minister Anisul Haque inaugurated the eight-day tournament for the journalists in the morning. DRU President Shakawat Hossain Badsha, general secretary Illias Hossain and sports secretary Badrul Alam Chowdhury Khokon, among others, were present.

A total of 40 media houses - 21 print media, 11 television channels, five online media, two news agencies and one radio - split into eight groups, will take part in the meet on knock out basis. Later, eight group champions will play in the quarterfinal.

In the day’s matches, Daily Observer beat ATN News by three wickets, NTV outplayed Amader Shomoy by 40 runs, Independent TV beat Manabzamin by 22 runs and Bangla Mail earned a huge 90-run win over Daily Independent.

RTV got walkover against Daily Sun while Kalbela got walkover against Asian TV.

Six more matches will be held on Monday at the same venue.
