A court here on Thursday framed charges against Daily Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman and eight other people in a case filed in connection with the torching of a vehicle in Tejgaon.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh framed the charges rejecting discharge pleas, and fixed February 28 for the next hearing.
The others who were indicted are Abdur Rahim, Ripon Kumar Kundu, Anwaruzzaman, Mehedi Hasan, Lutfur Rahman, Aminul Islam, Shahjahan Babu and Jahangir Khan.
The court also issued a warrant for the arrest of four accused as they did not appear before the court.
In the case statement, they have been mentioned as “BNP-Jamaat” activists.
According to the case statement, miscreants torched a ‘6 number paribahan bus’ in Farmgate area on March 17, 2013.
Later, bus driver Anwar Hossain Babu filed a case in this connection.
On April 20, 2014, sub-inspector Rajibul Islam, also investigation officer of the case, submitted charge sheet against Mahumudur Rahman and eight others.
