Anindita and Lily perform at IGCC

Indira Gandhi Culture Centre (IGCC) organised an evening of Nazrul Geeti and Rabindra Sangeet 'Robi Porikramai Nazrul' by Indian singer Anindita Kazi and noted Bangladeshi Tagore artiste Lily Islam. The musical soiree was held on November 7 at 6:30pm at the IGCC, Gulshan in the city.
The artistes were accompanied by Richard Kishor on guitar, Binod Roy on keyboard, Swarup Hossain on tabla, Md. Manik on octopad and Asit Biswas on esraj.
Anindita Kazi is the daughter of Aniruddha Kazi and granddaughter of Bangladesh's National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam. She got a first class in music from Allahabad University. In 2001, she joined the Tara channel of India as a newscaster and has made a meteoric rise to become the President of Tara TV, one of the most popular Bengali TV channels of India. She became very popular in Tara TV as anchor of the popular programme 'Aaj Shokaler Amontrone'. She is also a reputed Nazrul Geeti Singer and elocutionist and has given many performances in TV channels and in India, Bangladesh and many foreign countries. She has also received many awards.
Lily Islam has completed her education in Rabindra Sangeet from Vishwa Bharati University in Shantiniketan. She was trained under legendary Rabindra Sangeet artists like Konika Bandopadhyay and Neelima Sen. She is a leading performer in all TV channels in Bangladesh and India. She has released many CDs and VCDs of Rabindra Sangeet. She has performed in different countries such as India, Australia, America, London, Dubai etc. She is the founder of the cultural organization 'Uttrayan'.
