Foreign investors have promised to invest 2 billion US dollars in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector of Bangladesh.
Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed confirmed the matter at the inaugural ceremony of the Second Bangladesh-UK e-Commerce Fair, an exposition on internet-based business, started at East London in United Kingdom (UK) on Friday local time.
ICT Division and Bangladesh High-tech Park authority jointly organizing the three-day exposition in association with tech journal Computer Jagat, an official news release of ICT Division signed by Public Relations Officer Abu Naser said on Saturday.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was the guest of honour at the opening ceremony.
A total of four important memorandums were signed with ICT Division and Hi-tech Park authority including the one with international payment gateway Payaa.
Bangladesh High Commissioner to UK Adbul Hannan, Britain All Party Parliamentary Group Chair Paul Skely, Federation of Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) President Abdul Matlub Ahmed, Bangladesh Hi- tech Park Managing Director Hosne Ara Begum and Computer Jagat Chief Executive Officer Abdul Wahed Tamal were present there among others.
Bangladeshi software company Reverie has developed an android mobile application titled "E-Commerce Fair" to share details of the exposition which is available at Google Play Store and it can be downloaded from the short link: goo.gl/SKHMTr.
