Former state minister for home Lutfozzaman Babar, a death-row convict in the much-talked-about 10-truck arms haul case, underwent medical checkup at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
Sources at the DMCH said Babar was taken to the hospital around 9:45 am from Kashimpur Jail in Gazipur and then sent back to the Kashimpur Jail around 12:00 am after the medical checkup.
Contacted, senior jail super of Kashimpur Jail Part-1 Mizanur Rahman said Babar was sent to the DMCH for his regular checkup following a court order as he had earlier appealed for medical treatment. According to the jail sources, Babar has been suffering from various complications, including chronic asthma, back pain, hypertension and stomachache. ?UNB
