Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in a drive arrested Sunday a charge-sheeted accused in the Fulgazi upazila chairman Ekramul Haque killing case from Academy area in Feni town. The arrested, identified as Md Faruk, son of Kikin Mia, was affiliated with the local Jubo League. Law enforcement agencies have failed to arrest 25 people out of the 56 accused of killing Ekramul Haque, A court has ordered the confiscation of property belonging to the absconding accused of the murder. Ekramul Haque's brother Rejaul Karim filed a case against Mahtab Uddin Ahmed Chowdhury Minar and a number of unnamed people for the killing the following day. Police pressed charges against 56 people on August 28 and the court took those into cognizance on November 12 last year. On May 20, 2014, some 30 unidentified youths, some wearing masks, attacked the motorcade of Ekramul Haque with firearms on the Academy Road in Feni on his way to Fulgazi upazila. The criminals shot fires and attacked Ekram's vehicle with sharp weapons; they then set fire to his car. Ekram died on the spot. Abid, one of the prime accused in the case, in his confessional statement to the court in May said: "Soon after the murder I contacted Nizam Hazari and district Awami League Joint Secretary Jahangir Adel over mobile phone about the incident."
