Cabinet okays 12 projects worth Tk 2,292 cr

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved on Wednesday 12 projects worth Tk 2,292 crore including Rooppur nuclear power plant construction and infrastructure project.
The approval came at the meeting of CCGP held at the Cabinet Division with Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith in the chair.
Maksudur Rahman Patwari, Additional Secretary of Cabinet Division after the meeting briefed journalists.
He said that the CCGP has approved on Wednesday 12 projects worth Tk 2,292 crore.
The Cabinet body approved a proposal of the Energy Ministry to award contract for its Gas Transmission Company Limited (GTCL)'s Moheshkhali-Anwara gas pipeline project's miscellaneous fitting and 89.365 km gas pipeline construction at a total cost of Tk 159.58 crore.
The Cabinet body approved a Power Ministry's proposal allowing private firm Edisun-Power Point & Haor Bangla-Korea Green Energy to set up a 32 MW peak solar park in Dharmapasa upazila of Sunamganj district. The state-owned PDB will purchase electricity from the park for next 20 years at a tariff of US 17 cents per kilowatt hour.
Another proposal of the same ministry received approval of the Cabinet body to allow another private firm Hetat-Ditrolic-IFDC Solar Consortium to set up a 50 MW (AC) solar park at Sutiyakhali of Gowripur upazila of the Mymensing district.
The state-owned PDB will purchase electricity for 20 years at the same tariff of US 17 cents per kilowatt hour peak.
The Power Ministry's proposal to appoint consultant for its three power projects also received the nod. A foreign consortium obtained the job at a contract value of 33.72 crore for the three projects-Baghabari 100-150 MW combined cycle, Shahjibazar 70-100 MW, and Sylhet 159-225 MW combined cycle power plant.
The committee approved a proposal of the Rural Electrification Board (REB) for procurement of single phase meter for its 1.8 lakh consumers' electrification project.
However, the Cabinet body rejected a contract award proposal for appointment of a consultant for a Railway Ministry's project for construction of parallel dual gauge rail line from Dhaka to Narayanganj. The committee asked the Ministry to place the proposal after a further study of the project, said Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Maksudur Rahman Patwari while briefing about the outcomes of the meeting.
